STR is currently seeking an RF Electro-Mechanical Technician to assemble and test circuits, circuit boards, wiring harnesses and cables. Additionally, the individual would be responsible for the manufacturing, modification and assembly of mechanical assemblies and housings. The position will include assembly, wiring, troubleshooting and testing of a variety of DC and RF circuits. The position also includes various mechanical tasks to fabricate, assemble and fasten components and subsystems into test fixtures and housings. The candidate will need to operate basic RF test equipment and troubleshoot when necessary. Although previous manufacturing experience is not required, a strong mechanical aptitude is a must. Candidate must be a team player and be committed to continuous improvement with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. The position requires that the candidate be a self-starter, a problem solver, and be able to perform with minimal direction while also understanding when to ask for help.

Skills/Traits:

  • Experience fabricating and testing DC and RF cables, cable assemblies and wiring harnesses
  • Experience building and testing DC and RF circuits at the component level
  • Must have experience with a variety of soldering and de-soldering practices and techniques
  • Soldering/de-soldering passive and active components, including Surface Mount Technology
  • Able to assemble, repair and inspect work under a microscope
  • Able to understand circuit schematics and component data sheets
  • Knowledge of standard machine shop processes and machining capabilities
  • Must have a good understanding of machine tool capabilities, limitations and safety of operation
  • Comfortable cutting, bending, drilling and fabrication using various materials, including: steel, stainless and aluminum
  • Safely operate various types of hand tools, hand-held power tools and power tools.
  • Able to understand and work from mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Adhere to safety standards, practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Good written and verbal communication; documentation of the work products is important
  • Skilled in listening and interpersonal participation, and able to work with others as part of a team which includes giving and receiving feedback and assisting others in completion of tasks.
  • Proficient with computer systems and applications (basic spreadsheet and word processing)
  • Able to understand and follow a test plan procedure
  • Willing to travel and build test equipment configurations at remote locations
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus
 
Position Requirements

Education / Certifications:

The successful candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated understanding of electronic assembly, wiring and mechanical assembly. A certificate from a trade school, an associate degree, or similar certification with at least 3-5 years of relative experience is required.

Experiences / Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have good manual dexterity, good interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills as well as possess a positive attitude with the ability to work independently. Candidates should be able to accommodate changes in work schedules (including overtime) to meet deadlines.
