Infrastructure Automation Engineer 

Description

With minimal supervision, designs, builds and tests, workflow/automation and multi-platform orchestration environments and solutions for IT infrastructure and processing. Uses well developed analytical and problem solving skills to de-bug and optimize these platforms and services. Using and broad range of cross platform engineering skills, collaborates with 3rd level engineering, Senior Automation Engineers and Enterprise Architects to build, complex, repeatable IT infrastructure delivery models. Interacts closely with the Infrastructure Automation admins to "productionalize" and document these processes. Engineers and builds seamless integrations of automated processes into the various enterprise control environments such as uCMDB, monitoring, Change Management, Service Catalog and scheduling. Contributes to the toolset vision for the configuration and automation of all infrastructure build, fix, implementation and maintenance activities in the enterprise.

  • Engineers, builds and tests multi-platform automation, orchestration and workflows based on requirements from various IT partners within the specified catalog of approved automation solutions. Collaborates with 3rd level engineering partners and Operations staff to ensure the appropriate delivery criteria and process capability are met. Contributes to the creation of and maintains departmental standards. Leverages version control to ensure consistency within each environment.
  • Analyzes and optimizes the automation platforms to maintain productivity, performance and functionality improvements. Within a defined governance framework and based on requirements and specifications derived from 3rd level engineering teams assists the Sr. Automation Engineer in recommending new solutions for the automation portfolio.
  • Build, deliver and maintain capability to measure utilization, costs, delivery time, accuracy and impact on availability. Analyzes and evaluates metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements to support the overall process improvement goal of the team. Leverages this analysis to drive continuous improvement of automation services.
  • In conjunction with Operations Engineering, third level infrastructure engineering, monitoring engineering, DBA, enterprise support and security, prioritize all opportunities to transform incident mitigation data and root cause analysis into automated, 'self-healing' processes.
  • Drives the downshifting of completed and verified automation solution into the Operations teams. Ensures that all training, technical and knowledge documentation is accurate and up to date and that the Automation admins has a complete working knowledge of the catalog.
  • Periodically reviews the integration points and related data in the configuration management and infrastructure service catalog repositories to validate the correct complete data is present.
  • Works with the various solution vendors on periodic health checks and environment upgrades as required.
 
Position Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Computer related discipline program
  • Applicant should have experience in IT systems administration and process management.
  • 4 years of experience in Infrastructure administration or process automation role.
