Human Resources Manager

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Manager, under the direction of the Sr. Director of Human Resources and working in conjunction with the local leadership team will provide the full complement of Human Resources (HR) expertise/leadership to include organizational development, overseeing leaves of absence, workers compensation, employee relations, training, recruitment, compliance, and audits. Train, supervise and support assigned HR staff, including filling in when needed. Prepare and present HR metric data as needed.

Position Requirements



  1. B.A. Degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business or public administration, or social sciences.
  2. Five (5) years of professional human resources work experience, two (2) of which are at the management level. Advanced level of practical knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local employment and labor laws.
  3. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience using a HRIS system.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with professionalism and confidentiality.
  5. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to interface and work well with all levels of management and staff, while maintaining confidentiality.
  7. Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgement.
  8. Proven ability to problem-solve with and ability to develop creative solutions for complicated situations.
  9. Relationship builder with the ability to work with all levels of the Agency.
  10. Excellent organizational, task-management, leadership, creativity, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  11. Demonstrated ability to exhibit a passion for cultural exchange, handling communication barriers and cultural expectations professionally and with empathy.
  12. Demonstrated Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  13. Valid CA Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days after the date of hire and good driving record.


  1. M.A. Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  2. PHR or SPHR Certification.
  3. Prior experience working for a non-profit organization and/or company that contracts with or is highly regulated by the government.
