STR has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional to lead our corporate HR team and develop strategies, programs and processes that will reinforce the company’s culture, values, and mission. The Director of Human Resources will partner with senior leadership and collaborate across teams to provide guidance, frameworks, and process to a rapidly scaling organization. This position requires high energy, commitment to excellence, strong leadership skills and a successful track record in human resources management.

STR is a privately-owned, rapidly growing business focused on research and development (R&D) for the defense and intelligence communities. We are a nationally recognized leader in research areas including data analytics, sensors and signal processing, electronic warfare, cyber, video and image understanding, command and control, and precision navigation. Several programs have transitioned advanced technology to military and intelligence users. While our primary focus is on serving US Government customers, we are pursuing commercial applications as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with senior and executive level management, peers, employees and recruits to champion the company’s values and culture.
  • Achieve desired business outcomes through planning and execution of HR practices and programs that address compensation, group benefits administration, compliance, recruiting and retention, rewards and recognition, diversity and inclusion, and performance management.
  • Assess the business environment on an ongoing basis for trends, issues, and opportunities that may impact group benefit programs, employee recruitment and retention, etc.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of legislation and regulation that relate to HR and participate in developing appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Lead the process in assessing and implementing systems and tools necessary to effectively execute HR management, recruiting and talent management, employee training, compensation programs and compliance.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years leading and developing staff to improve HR activities and results and developing appropriate programs and process to effectively achieve business requirements.
  • 8-10 years of experience, with emphasis on HR management, retention strategies and techniques, compensation and merit process, business partnering, employee engagement, leadership development and succession planning, diversity and inclusion, organizational development and coaching.
  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management practices and employment related legislation.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead strategies to retain and motivate employees and develop future leaders.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office products: PowerPoint; Excel, Word
  • Experience in high-tech companies and/or defense industry preferred.
