Employee Relations Coordinator

The Employee Relations Coordinator serves as the day-to-day systems and services point person for People & Culture. This role provides excellent customer service to employees and managers by responding to queries about P&C issues and helping with zoo-wide P&C programs, as well as directly supporting the P&C team by assisting with departmental tasks, projects and other activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support and guidance with employee coaching, conflict conversations, expectation setting, documentation of employee performance, performance improvement plans, and possible terminations.
  • Research, analyze, and respond to employee/manager questions and/or issues regarding P&C policies and processes.
  • Support employee relations investigations and administration of focus group sessions.
  • Enter electronic data into HRIS software as needed, and keeps P&C and employee files up-to-date by filing documents and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Help prepare metrics to support program analysis and business decision making as it relates to actives such as employee relations.
  • Assists with paperwork related to employee leaves, coaching & progressive discipline, worker's compensation, etc.
  • Maintain workplace relationships with fellow employees and vendors.
  • Handles confidential information in an appropriate, professional, and respectful manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and two years of Human Resources experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HRIS systems and applications
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain documents such as P&C policies, payroll procedures, and safety materials.
  • Ability to draft and present training materials.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings and/or weekends as needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Ascentis HRIS systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This position may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and/or outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
