PPC Industries is a southeast Wisconsin based, blown film extruder of LLDPE and HDPE resins for the manufacture of food grade poly liners food and industrial markets.

Scope of the Role

The Packaging Engineer - Sales Operations is the direct liaison between the Sales Team and the manufacturing facility. This role will provide support to the development needs for the Sales Team - specifically, product blend development, capital equipment estimation/procurement, plant support for samples/trials, complaint investigation and root cause analysis. This individual will be responsible for the prototyping phase through the commercialization of new products as well as modifications to existing products. He or she will provide leadership to manage multiple projects including product design review, material costing, product testing and evaluation, working with cross functional teams to support corporate goals. The Packaging Engineer - Sales Operations will report directly to the Vice President of Sales - Films Division.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage new engineering product development projects from concept to commercialization.
  2. Develop new product blends as they relate to blown film applications in Medical and Food and Industrial applications.
  3. Operate lab equipment related to material characterization such as FTIR, DSC, and material testing for strength based and additional polymer attributes.
  4. Responsible for tracking new project timelines to keep internal stakeholders informed of project status in real time.
  5. Work with cross functional teams of resources or draw from other functional areas, to ensure project completion within customer requirements/specifications.
  6. Drive product qualification and commercialization efforts consistent with ISO9001:2015, FSSC (ISO) 22000 and ISO 13485 guidelines.
  7. Assists in the development of design standards to expedite and provide input for continuous improvement of the product development process.
  8. Ensure that up-to-date information is loaded and maintained in the company CRM system, Salesforce. This will include opportunity creation / feasibility / regular updates and report out to senior management as needed.
  9. Participate in PPC Industries Safety Initiatives.
  10. Any other functions that may be assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • BS in packaging engineering, geared to flexible packaging.
  • Working knowledge of blown film extrusion process and terminology preferred.
  • Understanding of plastic materials and ability to research materials.
  • Familiarity with AIB / LLDPE / HMW-HDPE resins and blends preferred.
  • Equipment / process knowledge a strong plus.
  • Understand customer requirements and application as it relates to the Medical and Food and Industrial product markets.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and attention to detail.
  • Task oriented, strong analytical skills and well organized.
  • Strong interpersonal, excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization.
  • Ability to travel 2-3 nights per month domestically to collaborate with sales team associates and customers on various projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Aptitude to learn and a strong team player.
