Position Title: Director of the Oscoda Campus

Reports To: Dean of Students and Vice President of Instruction

Position Status: Part-Time, 12 month Administrative, General Fund, A Level

Classification/Points: Level A Administrative Scale

Position Description:

Provides coordination and supervision of the credit and non-credit educational program activities and staff at the Oscoda campus and satellite centers in Iosco County. Responsible for determining programs and services for the area, recruiting and supervising faculty, budget planning, monitoring schedule development and supervision of learner support and student services. The work schedule may fluctuate throughout the academic year with more of an emphasis on the fall and spring semesters (August - April) and less emphasis on the summer semester (May - July).

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates the development of the annual credit course schedule and coordinates the schedule with the Dean of Students and Vice President of Instruction.
  2. Coordinates the development of all non-credit course offerings.
  3. Recruits adjunct faculty in cooperation with the appropriate academic department and the Dean of Students.
  4. Coordinates student recruitment activities in cooperation with the Admissions Office.
  5. Develops, justifies and monitors the campus budget, prepares the instructional load report and authorizes budget expenditures.
  6. Directs the student registration process for the campus and satellite sites, including dual enrollment and Early College programs. Coordinates class schedules with multiple high school counselors for each academic year. Arranges satellite classroom facilities with the Admissions Office.
  7. Implements college policies and procedures pertaining to admissions, academic standards and follows up on student complaints and concerns.
  8. Supervises the activities of the Student Services Center and coordinates activities with the center on the main campus.
  9. Coordinates faculty and curriculum issues with the Department Chairpersons and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and serves on the Department Chair Committee.
  10. Manages the Oscoda Campus facility to include all relationships with tenants and student welfare and safety.
  11. Serves as the college's representative for community related activities.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and Vice President of Instruction.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

 
Position Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
  2. Experience within a community college work environment in the area of teaching, distance education delivery systems, admissions, academic course scheduling and faculty recruitment preferred.
  3. Supervisory and management experience within an organization dealing with the public required.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  5. Experience with the development and implementation of marketing strategies preferred.
  6. Ability to deal tactfully with student-related issues required.
  7. Willingness to travel frequently within Iosco County and the main campus in Alpena required.
