We are seeking a mission focused professionals to serve as a full time Family Development Specialist responsible for serving SAFY of Montgomery, Alabama by providing initial and on-going training and development of foster families and conduct/write initial and recertification home studies.

As a Family Development Specialist, you would:

  • Pursue all inquiries of interest from parties interested in becoming foster parents.
  • Perform a home study of prospective foster parent(s) and their home environment according to SAFY policy and specific requirements of the state.
  • Organize and schedule the foster parent(s) pre-service training program. This includes, arranging presenters, locating and scheduling meeting sites, and notifying attendees.
  • Conduct the orientation training sessions and assure that the content and required number of training hours is provided according to SAFY policy and state regulations.
  • Complete all elements of the licensing process for each parent/home that successfully completes all phases of training, within 90 days.
  • Complete the re-certification of foster homes in a timely manner according to licensing regulations.
  • Be in compliance with monthly and quarterly requirements as defined annually by QI plan.

Position Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, child & family studies is required.

Licensure Requirements:

  • LBSW, LGSW/LMSW, or LCSW is required in the State of Alabama.

Experience Requirements:

  • Three years of relevant experience is required with above listed degrees and experience in child welfare preferred.
