Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Senior Director, Partnerships and Operations is responsible for overseeing the execution of the division's activities to secure new partners and maintain and grow existing partners. To that end, the Senior Director will support[VN1] a comprehensive stewardship program for all donors, ensuring fulfillment of partnership agreements for NeighborWorks America; oversee the development of an active pipeline of prospective funders; and direct the development of proposals ensuring consistent voice and collaboration with internal stakeholders. This position is primarily responsible for retaining and growing existing partnerships, including the direct management of key partnerships, and managing the Division's infrastructure for prospect management, including prospect research and tracking of the relationship development process.

The Senior Director, Partnerships and Operations plays an important role in meeting and exceeding the Division's annual fundraising goals and collaborates with the other members of the Resource Development team to maintain strong relationships with existing funders and partners. The Director and the team produce special partnership events, coordinate visibility opportunities for partners, and manage communication and outreach for the Division.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a diverse portfolio of partners to support the long-term sustainability of NeighborWorks and the Network by executing engagement strategies and identifying opportunities to expand the relationship.
  • Manages the prospect management system, including prospect research and tracking of the relationship development process, to enhance the Division's ability to diversity and expand its funder portfolio.
  • Manage the proposal submission grant renewal process for all donors and prospects, collaborating with colleagues across divisions to create successful proposals that strengthen and enhance the impact of NeighborWorks America and its network.
  • Manages the dissemination of information regarding prospect management, grant commitments, partnership fulfillment and stewardship through communications vehicles such as pre-concurrence, weekly and monthly reports to the CEO and the New Grants meeting.
  • Oversees execution of all grants to ensure deliverables and reporting requirements are met.
  • Serves as lead fundraising counsel for designated programs within NeighborWorks America, partnering with Vice President, National Partnerships and Senior Vice President, Resource Development to develop specific fundraising strategies for existing programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Advises and supports NeighborWorks America executives in their relationships with major donors and partners as part of the stewardship strategy.
  • Develops and prioritizes strategies for the acknowledgement, reporting and ongoing cultivation of donors.
  • Encourages or promotes the development of staff to maximize their potential, manages all aspects of personnel management for direct reports, including but not limited to: work plan development, performance evaluations, and time and attendance. Supervise assigned staff according to overall company policy, including: monitoring and assisting staff with work progress, and monitoring performance to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Stays of abreast of partner interests and monitors news sources for partner activities.
  • Identifies strategic areas of growth for fund development for NeighborWorks America programs and the NeighborWorks network.
  • Research, develop, adapt and implement short- and long-term fundraising strategies and convene and coordinate internal stakeholders to develop cohesive strategies for fund development.

Nature of Work Contacts:

  • Senior management levels within corporations, foundations, financial institutions, federal agencies, trade associations and national non-profit organizations for sustaining enduring partnerships.
  • Executives and staff within the Resource Development Division, NeighborWorks America and the NeighborWorks network to advise and collaborate on stewardship opportunities and practices.
  • Senior managers and functional peers in NeighborWorks America for coordinating and supporting resource development efforts, including public relations and communications.

Fiscal Responsibilities:
Some budgetary oversight for respective areas of responsibility.

 
Position Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Education: Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree (highly preferred) in a relevant discipline from an accredited four year college or university. Will consider relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.

(b) Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience involving demonstrated abilities in project management and partnership development and retention in a complex organization or related programmatic areas in community development and/or affordable housing. At least three (3) years supervising staff.

(c) Licenses, Certifications: None specified.
(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven track record of managing complex partnership agreements (for-profit or non-profit);
  • Strong ability to identify opportunities and develop strategies that create synergy between the organization’s mission and the partner’s needs.
  • Experience and familiarity with housing and community development issues and stakeholders; Experience managing and developing staff as well as supervising consultants.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong track record of collaboration across all levels of the organization and the ability to seek and incorporate input from a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to the NeighborWorks network and the for-profit sector; Able to work independently;
  • Commitment to the mission of NeighborWorks America and its network.

(e) NeighborWorks America Staff are expected to demonstrate excellence in the following:

(f) Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with fundraising or sales lead management software packages.

Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in a related field is preferred; 10+ years of relevant work experience. Business process development and redesign experience.

Working Conditions:
(a) Travel: Up to twenty-percent (20%). Occasional weekend or evening work may be required.
(b) Physical/Sensory Demands: Fast-paced working environment, extensive computer usage. Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Special Provisions: Occasional work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings is required.
