The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the world’s premier institution dedicated to the art and science of movies. Located at Wilshire and Fairfax in Los Angeles, the Museum will be simultaneously immersive, experimental, educational, and entertaining. We are seeking a highly customer service oriented Assistant Manager of Maintenance who possess a combination of relevant experience and a strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Working with a prestigious onsite team and service vendors, you will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of functions including maintenance, custodial service, grounds services, vendor contracts, and set-up services.

We are currently hiring day and swing shift. Precise work times are TBD, but you must be able to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, inspect, supervise, and evaluate the work of maintenance, custodial, grounds, and maintenance staff and vendors in the upkeep of the facility.
  • Manage vehicle and equipment maintenance program.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling program.
  • Coordinate and supervise all event set-up/support-related functions.
  • Support management team with development and implementation of standard operating procedures for the facility.
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, hiring, and training of maintenance team members.
  • Undertake maintenance and custodial tasks when needed.

     
    Position Requirements
    • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is strongly preferred.
    • Experience or strong familiarity with all or some the following areas: basic carpentry, HVAC functionality, irrigation, janitorial, and/or plumbing is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to manage staff and provide hands-on instruction and training in a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks.
    • Proficiency in MS Office as well as electronic workorder and inventory management system.
    • Knowledge of safety work practices and codes including Cal-OSHA requirements.
    • Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and methods used in the cleaning and maintenance of a public facility.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, visitors, vendors, and contractors.
    • A can-do attitude with the ability to follow through on commitments and solve problems in a timely manner.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment while staying organized and paying strict attention to detail.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
    • Ability to walk and stand for up to 2 hours, reach, climb ladders, lift/carry up to 20 pounds, and work outside in all weather conditions.
    • Availability to work a flexible schedule in support of special events and in case of emergency.
