About the Organization Incorporated in 1985, Fountainhead Development, Inc., (FDI), specializes in property management and is the largest privately owned hotelier in Alaska. FDI owns and operates Sophie Station Suites, Wedgewood Resort and the Bear Lodge. Each of these properties offers guest accommodations, fine dining establishments and a variety of guest services. Our commercial properties include holdings in excess of 540,000 square feet of rental space, which we manage, lease and maintain. This diversified corporation is also involved in the construction industry with a year round operation developing commercial properties.


Fountainhead Development, Inc. owns and operates the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum, a collection that features over 84 American made antique automobiles and showcases the interesting heritage of the automobile during Alaska's post-Gold Rush era. Several autos are the only models of their marques known to remain.


In addition, FDI has a Wildlife Sanctuary at Wedgewood, which is a peaceful, 75-acre reserve that is home to an impressive variety of interior Alaska's wildlife. The sanctuary, a model wetlands restoration project, offers nature trails and observation decks.

Description

Position Summary: Greet, transport, and provide luggage handling and information services for guests traveling to and from the hotel, airport, train station, and other possible locations.

Duties:

  • Inspect and test vehicle equipment to ensure proper operation; log and report any concerns
  • Maintain cleanliness of passenger vans
  • Fill gas tanks, check oil and maintain vehicle upkeep as per a daily checklist
  • Greet and welcome guests
  • Lift and carry guest luggage up to 60 lbs.
  • Assist guests with entering and exiting a passenger vehicle
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, activities, etc.
  • Operate motorized vehicle
  • Follow safety regulations and laws governing vehicle operation and ensure passengers follow relevant laws and regulations
  • Operate a company vehicle
  • Transport guests to and from the hotel and various locations throughout the local area, to include the airport and train station
  • Deliver items to guest rooms, to include cribs, coffee, room service, rollaway beds, towels, toiletries and other items upon request
  • Sweep and/or shovel walkways and other areas requiring access as needed, depending on the season
  • Complete janitorial duties for work/office and public areas as needed
  • Assist with property security
  • Assist with Houseman duties as needed
  • Assist Front Desk Clerks, Luggage Handlers, Housekeepers and other departments as needed
  • Communicate with other hotel departments and shifts as needed to meet guest's needs and maintain smooth operation of hotel functions
  • Observe health and safety precautions required to protect people and property
  • All other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License
  • A driving record sufficient to meet company insurance standards
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways
  • Previous passenger driving experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred (hotel/hospitality specific is a plus)
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, to include assessing needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of principles, methods and motorized vehicles required for moving people or goods
  • Communication skills, to include effectively conveying information to others, and giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Able to perform with sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to perform physical activities that include use of legs, arms, fingers; to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, twist, tug, push and pull; to operate luggage and/or office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of computer keyboard; to travel to other locations; to verbally communicate to exchange information; to see and hear within a reasonable range to safely drive a company vehicle, and to work in a hotel and outdoor environment with or without correction.

Wage B Shift starts at $11.00 per hour, C Shift starts at $11.50 per hour.  
Shift Various Shifts  
Hours B Shift 2 days per week = 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm AND C Shift 2 nights per week = 10:00 pm to 6:30 am  
Uniform • Black slacks • Full, closed-toe and closed-heel shoes with slip resistant soles • Employer provided shirt
