SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Customer Service Manager/Custodial Site Supervisor, the Community Training Specialist (CTS) is responsible for providing the day-to-day training and supervision of individuals served with disabilities. The CTS will ensure that clients develop the skills necessary to prepare them for future employment opportunities within the community, and to achieve the goals established in their Vocational and Individual Service Plans (ISP). This person will also work closely with the Career Opportunity Advocates to plan and provide work related supportive services such as assistance with hygiene, meals, and transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Embrace Opportunity Village core values by cultivating positive and meaningful CONNECTIONS with OVIPs and colleagues, demonstrating ENTHUSIASM, high standards of PRODUCTIVITY, authentic STEWARDSHIP, and consistent participation in individual and team DEVELOPMENT.
  2. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village's organizational culture supporting choice and creativity of OVIPs (Opportunity Village Important People) and of staff.
  3. Provide department specific training/mentoring for all new employees and continuing training/mentoring for current employees.
  4. Conduct daily team huddles to solicit feedback, answer questions, and communicate relevant information to custodial employees.
  5. Provide managers with information regarding staff performance.
  6. Required to read service and habilitation plans for all individuals served in the program to assure each individual is receiving their proper care according to their plan(s).
  7. Ensure proper documentation is complete (i.e. ID notes, Incident reports and corrective action)
  8. Complete time studies if contract requires.
  9. Comply with all Federal, State (Desert Regional Center) and local regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  10. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation (ANE) within 24 hours as mandated by state law.

  11. Provide leadership and direction to the individuals served.

  12. Evaluate and inspect the performance to guarantee quality assurance.

  13. Prioritize work ensure the job scope is being accomplished on a daily basis.

  14. Responsible for maintaining inventory to maintain a standard level of supplies.

  15. Provide job coaching, as well as assisting the Career Advocate to identify vocational strengths, challenges, and goals for each individual served.

  16. Provide manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Typical duties may include: dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment.

  17. Drive company vehicle with the individuals working within the contract from Opportunity Village campus to job site.

  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor and to execute excellent customer service.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Knowledge of custodial operations and building maintenance and procedures.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year verifiable work experience in the custodial field.

  • Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.

  • Required: Valid Nevada Drivers License with a clean annual DMV report and must be twenty one (21) years of age in order to be eligible to drive company vehicles. Must complete and pass the Smith’s Driving Training Course administered by Opportunity Village.

  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.

  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk 90% of the work day.
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment as well as a work center and community businesses with high level of noise.
  • Frequent bending, standing and lifting.
