POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION
The Sr. Sales Engineer provides pre-sales technical support to the Wholesale and Partner sales teams. The Sr. Sales Engineer helps close business via data center and wholesale product knowledge, presentation, solution design, quoting, and leading tours of the RagingWire facilities. Solutions are win-win focused to maximize RagingWire and customer's value.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hosts tours of the RagingWire data centers.
Effective lead Wholesale solution requirement gathering sessions with clients and vendors.
Designs and documents customer solutions/environments based on specific customer requirements.
Identifies best use of the RagingWire wholesale products to develop solutions to meet and exceed customer requirements.
Understands data center design concepts and differentiators (high dense cooling, maintainable fault tolerant power, security redundancy etc…)
Interfaces with multiple teams and translate between them (operations, engineering, marketing, IT etc…)
Participates in customer meetings and assist in telling the RagingWire story.
Creates and edits pricing quotes quickly and accurately.
Occasionally works the RagingWire booth at industry trade shows and events.
Responds to, maintains, and stores answers to technical RFP questions.
Assists in facility space planning and management.
Develops and hosts technical training.
Trains SEs and Sales on how to host data center tours, with a focus on a wholesale delivery model.
Trains and mentors SEs on day to day duties and responsibilities.
Performs special projects related to the Sales Engineering function as assigned by management.
Identify and approve 3rd party contractors to provide customer facing infrastructure across all geographic locations where RagingWire operates.
Writes a Scope of Work and Bill of Materials to support the fit-out of wholesale customer spaces.
Review RFP/quotes provided by 3rd party contractors and make recommendations based on customer requirements and RDC requirements including margins.
Engage customers to extract critical technical and business drivers that may position client deliverables.
Maintains familiarity with competitive offerings in order to effectively position products and solutions in a competitive environment.
Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be a master story teller and presenter
Comfortable speaking/presenting to small to medium sized groups.
A demonstrated thorough understanding of modern data center and IT client requirements and environments with a primary focus on wholesale customers and their data center requirements
Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project Outlook, Sharepoint and Salesforce.
Ability to work in a team/cross-team/multi-site environment.
Manage stress and/or fast-pace effectively.
Excellent problem solver/creative thinker.
Effective at working with 3rd party contractors and vendors to aid in the design of large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.
Ability to develop and write a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BS degree or equivalent education and/or relevant technical sales experience usually obtained with 7-8 years of in computer-related field.
Prior technical sales support experience in a wholesale data center environment is a must.
High School Diploma or GED required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk and deliver and technical tours throughout data center footprint.
Primarily sitting with some days extensive walking.
Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
Close visual work on a computer terminal.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
Ability to lift or carry objects up to 20 lbs.
WORK CONDITIONS
Standard office environment with walking in Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 25% travel possible.
Works on-site with some visits to customer premises as needed.
No telecommuting; works on-site.
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
