Position Professional Water Resources Engineer  
Description

You will play a lead role in Alliant’s water resources group delivering roadway drainage systems on complex highway-heavy and local roadway projects. You will have the opportunity to work closely with MnDOT and contractors on high profile, local Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), and traditional design projects. As a Professional Water Resources Engineer, you will utilize your technical expertise to design hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, develop roadway drainage and water treatment systems, design erosion control and sediment management BMPs, coordinate with and obtain agency permitting, and perform bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis.

Other activities will include resolving design issues with proactive and innovative solutions, checking design work per Alliant’s Design Quality Management Plan, and engaging in professional development activities to grow your client network. You will also assist with the preparation of work scopes, budgets, and schedules.

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Biosystems Engineering with a hydrology or water resources emphasis
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 4+ years of previous experience in hydrology and hydraulics, water resources engineering, and storm water management
  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, P8, SLAMM, and SWMM).
  • Demonstrated experience and strong proficiencies with Microstation and GEOPAK Drainage
  • Experience working with highway (County and/or DOT) design standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment is essential
