SCOPE OF WORK
The Intern shall provide inside sales support for sales staff in selling Pacific Corrugated Pipe (PCP) Products while working with the outside sales teams including Regional Sales Representatives (RSR) in order maximize sales of the entire PCP product line within the territorial boundaries of the production facility. Support shall include:
• Supporting role in performing take-offs for large project documents to allow for accurate preparing of quote/bid to be reviewed with RSR for submission to customer
• Support inside/outside sales staff in production shop drawings (AutoCAD)
• Answers frequent customer calls and services all will call customers
• All follow up requirements post-purchase order receipt including order entry and shipping logistics to name a few
• Support Operations Manager and Operations Coordinator on Engineering projects (both Plant and virtual).
This is a Regional Plant office position and reports to the Operations Manager of that manufacturing plant facility.

JOB DUTIES 1. To provide support to PCP sales team in order that they may maximize their selling time in the field 2. To assist in the preparation of technical submissions using a variety of engineering tools available from PCP 3. To enter customer purchase orders as sales orders accurately in accordance with customer purchase order requirements 4. To coordinate with operations personnel, as needed, in order to provide on-time delivery and optimal customer service RESPONSIBILITIES The Intern is a valued technical resource and a quote/bid planning expert to the sales team. The Intern provides support for all applicable PCP products including metal and plastic pipe, geo-synthetics, Geogrid, stormwater management products, and other related engineered metal and plastic products. Specific responsibilities applicable to the role include: • Searching a variety of electronic, online and other project databases in order to identify Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s) that contain corrugated pipe product of which PCP can provide quotations and bids • Look to offer alternative PCP solutions to bid requests (e.g. corrugated steel pipe or HDPE pipe in lieu of concrete pipe) seeking piping solutionsReview/draw plans and specifications for large projects and prepare accurate take-offs in order to quantify the PCP products contained in the documents o Secondary responsibility for any small project take-offs as time allows • Receive and prepare quotations on all state, county, and municipal projects • Partner with and support PCP sales team in quoting projects, supporting customers, entering/expediting orders and coordinating with other departments within PCP such as engineering, purchasing and manufacturing to optimize customers experience • Collaborate with sales staff to accurately input all purchase orders received from PCP customers • Coordinate and communicate follow up on all emails and phone calls from current and potential to the responsible salesperson • Frequently interact with inside and outside sales staff. Also, extensive interaction with PCP engineering and manufacturing • Other tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE In the process of obtaining an Engineering Degree; Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Forest Engineering, 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role or within the industry is an advantage. Some work experience in estimating or project management would be an asset. Working knowledge to proficiency with AutoCAD is an advantage. Strong analytical, teamwork and people skills are a distinct benefit for this role.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT Physical Effort – The majority of time will be spent in an office environment with frequent time on the computer. There is occasional need to move or lift light articles. It may be necessary to attend trade shows, conventions or sales meetings where duration will be in excess of 8 hours per day and may require overnight stays. Occasional visits to job sites, customer and manufacturing facilities may occur. Physical Environment – Office environment with occasional time travel by car to visit other PCP facilities, work with RSR, visit customers and project sites. Occasional travel by plane to company, industry and customer events. Potential travel by car for site and customer visits in support of complete sales effort. |
