The Corporate Controller will have primary responsibility for managing the day to day accounting operations of the company. The position will manage 3-5 direct reports and a staff of 25+.

The Corporate Controller will:

  • Manage the financial close process and ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements. Communicate monthly results to private equity sponsor and lenders.
  • Lead and support activities to ensure the organization achieves its financial plan.
  • Provide timely identification and in-depth analysis of variances to plan and business trends including providing recommendations of corrective actions/improvements.
  • Create a team environment with open communication to ensure maximum performance. Provide constructive feedback and coaching, as well as, opportunities for development.
  • Ensure there is an efficient and effective system of internal control. Provide leadership in improving internal controls.
  • Support the development of best practices and continuous process improvement throughout the Accounting and Finance department and corporate office.
  • Manage corporate tax and related compliance activities.
  • Evaluate, research and implement relevant accounting standards including the preparation of technical accounting summaries. Provide guidance for the implementation of new accounting standards such as ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and ASC 842 Leases.
  • Provide support for M&A activities including due diligence, analysis and management of post transaction transition.
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with all departments including Marketing, Merchandising, Store Operations, IT, Supply Chain, as well as, Franchise Owners and private equity sponsors.
  • Lead the Accounting department activities in preparing budgets and forecasts and in analyzing results throughout the year.
  • Analyze and report on trends in key performance indicators (KPI) associated with the business.
  • Liaise with external auditors and others with year-end audit.
 
Position Requirements

Corporate Controller candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years relevant experience including at least 3-5 in a supervisory role.
  • Prior public accounting and/or technical accounting experience including the implementation of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and ASC 842 Leases a plus.
  • Prior retail, franchising and/or experience in a private equity ownership environment a plus.
  • Advanced skill level on Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Lease Accounting Software a plus.
  • Detail oriented, organized, flexible, and able to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Enjoy working under continual timelines.
  • Proactive and confident in communications at all levels.
  • Able to manage priorities and time, effectively.
