SUMMARY

The Supervisor of Behavioral Supports is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) responsible for the management of behavioral interventions and approaches that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all OV programs. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Program Supports, this role collaborates with Case Management and Program Managers to develop, train, and direct the interventions and supports appropriate for behavioral needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the oversight of services provided to individuals with complex behavior support needs, crisis response, behavior management, and staff training.
  2. Consult with Case Management team for assessment of individuals and development of behavior program.
  3. Provide assistance with staff training and implementation of behavior program.
  4. Provide continuing staff support and training as needed/requested.
  5. Review data collection and progress/regression of the individual. Update programs as indicated.
  6. Provide support and training for community individuals and collaboration with Service Contracts and other operational department staff for individuals with behavior programs.
  7. Provide functional assessment to PCP team for individuals on behavior programs
  8. Attend PCP meetings as indicated.
  9. Attend Human Rights Committee/Behavior Intervention Committee (HRC.BIC) meetings as required
  10. Ensures compliance with State Agency requirements
  11. Assist in creating and maintaining close relationships with families, guardians, caregivers, other providers, regulatory agencies, funders, and the community.
  12. Maintain basic health and safety principles and requirements sufficient to ensure that the safety needs of individuals and staff are met.
  13. Adhere to professional and ethical guidelines for treatment staff, federal, state and county programs, laws and regulations.
  14. Provide instruction to staff of techniques and methodologies used successfully to deliver services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  15. Supervises and assists case management team to ensure that treatment requirements for individuals are met and both internal and external deadlines are met.
  16. Measures principles sufficient to develop valid, reliable measure of individual needs.
  17. Provides theories, practices and methods of providing crisis response.
  18. This position requires travel to all OV campuses and other off-campus meetings and events.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals receiving services and their families and caregivers, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written) to ensure a common understanding of programming needs and methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles that guide the provision of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and their families.
  • Professional experience in intellectual and developmental disabilities program services and supervision of professional staff.
  • Possess and display social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Visionary leadership skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful and critical situations.
  • Support, lead, mentor, and motivate high performing staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Required: Three - five years of management experience related to health or human services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Required: Achieve and maintain current CPR and CPI certifications as a condition of employment.
  • Preferred: Seven to ten years effectively managing people and/or programs.
  • Preferred: Experience working with Nevada statewide intellectual and developmental disabilities services and programs.

  • Ability to travel to all OV sites and community partners in the Greater Las Vegas Valley.
