Position Overview

As an HR Business Manager / Site Lead, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive HR site and functional support at both strategic and tactical levels to various business leaders and functional groups across the organization. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include providing detailed, practical and valuable support to all business units at Proterra’s west coast manufacturing site located in City of Industry, CA. You will work closely with the Sr. Director, Human Resources.

About The Role – You Will

  • Shape and drive the local HR strategy from both a site and functional perspective.
  • Drive organizational HR strategies and solutions to support mission critical business priorities and goals.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide expertise in the following areas: career planning, performance management, coaching, data analysis, compensation and benefits, leaves, employee relations, learning and development, recognition programs, and recruiting.
  • Counsel senior business leaders on talent matters by facilitating discussions related to workforce and organization design changes.
  • Participate in full-cycle recruiting, including interviews, offers, negotiating with and closing candidates.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and assignments to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain headcount metrics, analyze data, and identify solutions to drive key insights and decisions around growth and retention.
  • Manage employee relations issues by conducting investigations, documenting findings and providing recommendations to mitigate legal risk.
  • Promote a high-performance culture to identify, engage, reward, and retain top talent while facilitating a positive work environment.
  • Promote alignment and collaboration across the organization by driving alignment and perspective, leveraging common processes and ensuring consistent messaging.
  • Provide HR policy guidance. Collaborate with colleagues in the human resources department to develop policies, programs, and solutions
  • Develop and nurture partnerships to bridge the divide between management and employees
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; collaborate with the legal department when necessary

About Our Group

Proterra’s Human Resources team is located in Burlingame, CA, City of Industry, CA and Greenville, SC. You will have the opportunity to partner with a team of highly skilled and passionate HR professionals that are working hard on significant and unique people issues impacting our company. You will work collaboratively with other professionals from our Payroll, Legal, Finance, Accounting and IT teams but also exercise your own independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining mission-critical results.

  • Bachelors’ degree, with minimum 4 years of experience in a HRBP role.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws at federal, state and local levels.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel (including operations such as v-lookup, functions, pivot tables, etc.)

Travel: Less than 10%
