Responsibilities and Duties Model for students Lasallian/Vincentian education; Support SHC's mission, philosophy and ESLRs; Engage students in the global community by developing their abilities to communicate effectively in Spanish; In collaboration with the Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Department colleagues, and per department goals (please see https://www.shcp.edu/academics/category/lote-languages-other-than-english ): Following the National Standards for Foreign Language Education, facilitate the skills oflistening, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish; Encourage students to gain experiential knowledge of other cultures, make connections across disciplines, explore the nature of language and culture by comparisons with their own, and actively participate in bilingual communities, beginning with the LOTE classroom. Design and implement standards-based lessons to facilitate critical thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings as determined by the Spanish learning team; Plan and implement what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level; Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile accurate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning; Maintain an interactive and timely learning environment, in both physical and virtual learning spaces; Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school personnel; Keep current and complete electronic grading and attendance records; Work with the Academic Resource Specialists and counselors to accommodate students who have learning differences; Participate in the cocurricular life of the school.   Position Requirements Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Spanish; Teaching credential or work toward it; single-subject teaching credential in Spanish preferred; Experience working with high school students; Ability to work independently and collaboratively to promote student learning.
