Lead Peer Recovery Specialist 

Description

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a qualified professional to join our team. As a key team player, this qualified person will share his/her lived experience of recovery, and be primarily responsible for the provision of support and encouragement to people with behavioral health disorders and co-occurring health issues. Key components of this project are to operate the AliveRVA Warm Line to provide support and resource referral; and to provide peer support services in participating hospital emergency departments. This person will also supervise and oversee this metro Richmond project’s activities and Peer Recovery Support Specialists to ensure the project meets grant requirements. Grant-funded, Full-time position.

Essential job duties include: Providing motivational and informational support in individual and group formats to adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders; maintaining detailed and up-to-date knowledge of community treatment and recovery support resources and self-help support groups’ locations; assisting with satisfaction surveys; assisting with computer-based health/wellness and employment activities in the consumer computer lab; coordinates with sub-contract agencies, regional partners, and community partners; conducts individual and community partner outreach activities; prepares reports; attends staff meetings; maintains statistical information about ongoing activities; and completes regular documentation of efforts in an electronic health record as directed. Will include travel around metro Richmond area.

 
Position Requirements

Applicant must be competent and comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, as well as sensitive to, and possess an understanding of, behavioral health disorders such as serious mental illness (SMI) and addiction. Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field and at least two years’ experience delivering peer recovery support services. This program is looking for individuals with lived experience. Certification in Peer Recovery Support Services required. Valid Virginia driver’s license required.

Starting Salary Range $20.34 per hour
