Accounting Technician 

About the Organization Established in 1949 Swanson Rink specializes in mechanical and electrical engineering for mission critical data centers, airports and corporate clients. Our staff includes specialists in airport systems engineering (baggage handling, passenger boarding bridges, fueling and deicing), as well as fire protection, telecommunications, security and project management.
 
Description

Makes routine choices within established procedures to compute, record, and verify numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records to process A/P and related activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Processes weekly accounts payable, including the scanning of all backup, accurately and timely (A/P).
  2. Processes weekly expense reports.
  3. Processes corporate registrations by state – both electronically and manually (on paper).
  4. Generates, tracks, and records Purchase Orders.
  5. Orders office and kitchen supplies weekly/as-needed.
  6. Provides front desk coverage including answering phones, greeting visitors, receiving packages (approximately 30%-35% of time). Regular accounting duties are performed from the front desk.
  7. Provides assistance and back-up to other accounting staff as needed. This position will be cross-trained with other accounting technicians.
  8. Performs office organization tasks including filing of client documents and maintaining records based on retention policies.
  9. Provides support on special requests and ad-hoc projects as necessary.

 
Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Associates degree and one year of basic office experience or Bachelors degree.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability

  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient in use of word processing software and various accounting software
  • Proficiency with Excel using and creating basic formulas; familiar with certain functions such as VLookup and macros a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; to express ideas; to share information; and to prepare clear, well-organized correspondence, reports and similar documents
  • Knowledge of fundamental business principles and practices
  • Must have a “can-do” attitude toward taking on new challenges
