We are seeking experienced, compassionate Bilingual Medical Assistants to expand our impressive Medical Assistant team! The chosen candidate should possess a great attitude, passion for learning, commitment to helping others and excellent customer service.

Northern Nevada HOPES is a community health and wellness center serving the Northern Nevada area. We are a non-profit community health center located in a historic and quaint area of downtown Reno, Nevada. Our expert care teams provide integrated medical and wellness services to individuals and families in our community. The Bilingual Medical Assistant is a crucial member of the clinical team and the team-based care model at HOPES. The MA supports providers within the clinic environment as well as acting as liaison between the front and back office in the clinic. The Medical Assistant helps patients by providing information, education, services and assistance as needed, under the guidance of clinic manager. HOPES has an integrated team model approach to patient care. Part of the Medical Assistant’s responsibility will also include participation in organization wide Patient Centered Medical Home activities to enhance patient care. As quality is every employee’s responsibility, the Medical Assistant is required to uphold all standards and policies, and participate in quality improvement processes and meetings.

 
Position Requirements

Applicant Must Haves:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant required; preferrably 2-3 years experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an MA program
  • Habla Español! Communication is a big part of this role to serve our Spanish-speaking patients
  • Be kind . . . because the Medical Assistant team needs you to be compassionate as well as having excellent interpersonal/customer service skills!
  • The Medical Assistant will enhance the lives of everyone on our already awesome and super busy team . . . really!!! This amazing team needs you to possess a great attitude, have a passion for life-long learning, embrace feedback while demonstrating a suburb commitment to helping one another, and provide extraordinary service to our esteemed clients
  • We think it’s super important that you have the ability to understand and respond with appropriate sensitivity to special populations including LGBTQ, homeless, IDU, Sex Workers.
  • The ideal candidate will be savvy in their use of technology, our EMR can be challenging
  • The text book criteria for this job is those day-to-day must haves like knowledge of HIPAA, medical office practices/procedures, ability to pay attention to detail in all areas of this position, while remaining well-organized! If you’re able to multi-task and balance every aspect of the day-to-day functions in a clinic setting, then we need you! Super important that you are comfortable & experienced in working in a high stress position because we certainly don’t sit around and eat bon-bons all day.
  • Because PEOPLE matter here, we want you to have an exceptional working knowledge of fostering a people-centric workplace culture! Our team plays a vital role in navigating the organization through land mines and pitfalls, otherwise known as desk practices and board approved policies! We are 100% committed to fine-tuning our daily workflow procedures to gain new efficiencies that produce results for our internal customers . . . otherwise known as our HOPES team!   • Love to learn a little bit every day & know how important the little details are to building credibility and trust amongst your fellow colleagues. Maybe provide us with some examples on how you do this. Brag to us about your stories you’ve learned the most from, probably a failure or two. How did you creatively overturn a negative situation that needed to be de-escalated with a demanding co-worker?
  • Our team cheerfully and willingly steps in to support each other! In our organization, you will need to work long hours on occasion to help catch up on special projects in the department (sometime even on a weekend), so remaining flexible (just like Gumby!) and approachable is critical to getting the job done!
