LSA’s Corporate office in Irvine is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to work within the Accounting Department. In this role, the staff accountant will interface with all groups within the department (reporting, project accounting, contracts and management) and provide accounting support. This role supports financial and administrative processes within the firm and should have comfort with financial information including budgets, costs, and revenue, and be able to translate financial terms to nonfinancial personnel. As a vital member of the accounting team, the Staff Accountant’s primary area of responsibility will be report preparation and analysis, accounts payable and accounts receivable review, journal entries, assistance with financial statement preparation and miscellaneous support and administrative projects. In addition, this role will assist with our monthly billing process and provide project accounting support as-needed. You will add value to our team by having strong analytical skills, great attention to detail and excellent prioritization skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • QC invoices, collection management, project budgeting
  • QC Accounts Payable, to ensure accuracy on general ledger
  • Monitor and Manage ledger balances to Corporate budget
  • Perform various specialized accounting functions of moderate complexity, such as research and audit support
  • Assist controller/senior accountant in month end reconciliations, and bank balances
  • Prepare project invoices (billing to clients) and work on deadlines for Revenue cycle
  • Assist or provide back up for other accounting team members as necessary.
  • Assist with month-end close cycle working closely with other Finance Team members
  • Develop work plans and coordinate the successful completion of routine, ad hoc, analyses and projects under supervision
  • Perform miscellaneous administrative duties as needed
  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelors or Associate’s degree in Accounting or any related field
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience
  • A/E/C experience highly desired
  • Experience with Deltek Vision software preferred but not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables)
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A team-first collaborative attitude
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, requires minimal oversight
  • Excellent time management
  • Ability to work under and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact with and assist staff in a positive and proactive manner
