Under the direction of the Lead Custodian, the Custodian is directly responsible for supervision of client custodial staff and for satisfying all daily and periodic requirements of scope of work. Provides manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Typical duties may include some or all of the following: dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, dusting, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment. The Custodian will ensure that the entire area is cleaned to contract specifications with final outcome of a clean contracted area that will pass Health Department regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide managers with information regarding client performance.
  2. Required to read service and habilitation plans for all individuals served in the program to assure each individual is receiving their proper care according to their plan(s).
  3. Ensure proper documentation is complete (i.e. ID notes, Incident reports and corrective action)
  4. Report suspected Mistreatment (Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation & Isolation) within 24 hours as mandated by state law.
  5. Provide leadership and direction to the individuals served.
  6. Evaluate and inspect the performance to guarantee quality assurance.
  7. Prioritize work ensure the job scope is being accomplished on a daily basis.
  8. Responsible for maintaining inventory to maintain a standard level of supplies.
  9. Provide job coaching, as well as assisting the Case Manager to identify vocational strengths, challenges, and goals for each individual served.
  10. Provide manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings.
  11. Typical duties may include: dusting, mopping, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment.
  12. Scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restrooms supplied with towels, soap and other items.
  13. Attends training as necessary to update knowledge of latest innovations in custodial field.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize work ensuring the job scope is being accomplished on a daily basis.
  • Have knowledge of use and proper mixing of the chemicals used for cleaning of site.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor and to execute excellent customer service.
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of custodial operations and building maintenance and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience as a supervisor working in custodial field.
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Required: Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Required: Valid driver’s License.
  • Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.
