Crisis Outreach Counselor

Our Clinical Services Program has an immediate opportunity for Crisis Outreach Counselors to join their team in Goldsboro. Mental Health professionals will work with individuals, families, and groups in communities impacted by Hurricane Florence. Temporary position through Oct. 1st.

Responsibilities include:

  • Canvassing impacted areas and offering brief educational and supportive contact.
  • Actively listen and provide emotional support to survivors
  • Assist survivors in understanding their emotional reactions through individual and group counseling
  • Create resource lists and link survivors to assistance with behavioral health services, disaster recovery resources, and tangible goods
  • Represent the program at various events and meetings in the community
  • Provide presentations to community groups on disaster reactions, coping skills, stress management, and the program
  • Enter data related to survivor encounters into the mobile application device
  • Attend trainings for the program as directed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Position Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services or related field
  • Preferred credentialed as Qualified Mental Health Professional
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must have familiarity with community assigned
  • Must have a flexible mindset and possess excellent teamwork skills
  • Some travel associated with this position for training
  • Some night and weekend events
