Canine Companions for Independence was founded in Santa Rosa, California in 1975. The National Headquarters and Northwest Training Center are located on the Jean and Charles Schulz Campus in Santa Rosa, California. The Schulz Campus, named after generous supporters Jean and Charles Schulz, opened in 1996. The Northwest Region serves people in Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska.
SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing quality care of the dogs and puppies housed at the Canine Early Development Center (CEDC), including providing high quality cleaning and maintenance of the CEDC kennels, play areas, and socialization and bathing areas that house breeder dogs and puppies. This position also assists with the oversight and care of female dogs throughout various stages of pregnancy, including delivery of neonates and care of litters of puppies housed at the center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed:
EXPERIENCE: Must have experience with dog health care. Prior dog handling and training preferred but not required.
EDUCATION: High school graduate, GED or equivalent preferred but not required. LICENSES: Current driver’s license and insurability at normal risk rates.
