About the Organization  
Description

ATC’s Indianapolis, IN office is seeking a Staff Geologist/Staff Hydrogeologist to support projects for electric utility and solid waste landfill clients. The Staff Geologist will be responsible for soil and rock description in unconsolidated and bedrock deposits. The successful candidate must prepare boring logs, document monitoring well construction details and other field generated data, and collect soil and groundwater samples using a variety of equipment and under varying field conditions. The Staff Geologist will compile data, generate groundwater statistics results using DUMPStat, and prepare permitting and compliance reports. The Staff Geologist must be able to work on occasional multi-day out-of-town projects at client facilities.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to work out-of-town for extended periods
  • Ability to work cooperatively with drilling crews and field staff
  • Undergraduate Science Major or Minor
  • MS in Geology or Hydrogeology preferred

 
Position Requirements

Basic qualifications:

  • 2 – 8Years Experience
  • Ability to compile and interpret hydrogeological data and prepare reports
  • Experience/Training in Environmental Field Sampling and Testing Methods
  • Abide by ATC’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Prepare clear, organized, detailed, and accurate boring logs and well diagrams
  • Operate field water quality meters and groundwater sampling equipment
  • Familiar with USDA soil descriptions
  • Clear, detailed, well organized technical writing
  • Demonstrated technical and quantitative aptitude

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, assessment, and corrective action statistics preferred
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour updates
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive, team-oriented approach
  • Commitment to project objectives
  • Self-motivated, Resourceful, Shows Initiative
