Our Team:

The Senior Manager, Engineering is an integral member of the Plant Leadership Team. This role contributes significantly to the safe operation and the efficient production of high quality nutraceuticals products. Along with the Manager, Production, this role is accountable for the plant’s results in the areas of safety, quality, cost, and delivery. The Senior Manager, Engineering is responsible for the timely project delivery, project management, cost control and customer satisfaction.

What you will be doing:

  • Apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or production of goods and services. Conduct research and develop activities concerned with the design and construction of facilities and systems.
  • Determine feasibility of designing new plant/ equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, available space, time limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Design and direct activities of engineering personnel engaged in fabrication of test control apparatus.
  • Provide technical information concerning production or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Design components and direct activities of engineering personnel engaged in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment and in establishment of methods, procedures and conditions for testing equipment.
  • Study engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in the industry.
  • Direct activities concerned with the manufacture, construction, installation, and operational testing to ensure conformance of equipment and system with functional specification and customer requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities of field installations of equipment and systems.
  • Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports the company’s strategic initiatives.
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
  • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving. Improve manpower utilization within existing departments and processes.
  • Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action.
  • Continually improve safety records by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Oversee design, implementation, and management of assigned technical projects within the facility. Provide leadership while managing the technical resources in the plant.
  • Make recommendations for cost improvement projects. Work with Operations Management team in preparing capital project budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities undertaken by subcontracted Maintenance and Engineering resources.
  • Provide technical leadership and manage manufacturing engineering and advanced process development for the company.
  • Prioritize and manage assigned manufacturing engineering related projects, including the development and validation of new processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Apply Theory of Constraints, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies and tools to drive improvements in manufacturing costs, efficiencies and lead-times.
  • Interact with manufacturing lead persons, supervisors and managers daily to support and resolve manufacturing / design issues, and to identify and implement cost reduction projects.
  • Work across the organization to identify and allocate resources and establish new product cross-functional teams, with primary project leadership typically coming from the engineering team.
  • Support new product development activities as required.
  • Establish and utilize project management tools to manage all engineering projects with appropriate weekly and monthly report outs and escalation of significant issues when required.
  • Prepare and write technical reports and technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Follow good manufacturing best practices (cGMP, etc.), current company policies and procedures, and other applicable regulations to ensure compliance to applicable

What you bring to the team:

  • Four (4) year degree in Engineering theory and practices.
  • 8 – 10 years’ plant engineering experience.
  • Minimum 4 years’ managing all aspect of a team or professional and/or support workers.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Financial and broad business acumen.
  • Strong people and organizational leadership, procurement and vendor management skills.
  • Proficient in Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, CAD, CAD/CAM and Circuit Design.
  • High energy level is required. Creation of a high performance culture within the organization.
