Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will participate in conducting geotechnical investigations and analysis, performing boring layout for utility clearance, supervising drill rigs, classifying soils, logging borings, test pits, and cores, performing floor level surveys, performing testing and observation services, reviewing plans and specifications, and preparing geotechnical reports and letters.
  • Additionally the Staff Geotechnical Engineer will participate in construction materials testing projects including field engineering responsibilities.
  • Experience should lead to managing construction materials testing projects, including managing project budgets and meeting and interacting with clients and design professionals.
  • The position will also coordinate and oversee field activities, including field technicians and inspectors for projects, visit the project sites to evaluate the work being performed.
  • The candidate will conduct technical review and approval of all project related paperwork, and assist with troubleshooting on projects.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate with BS/BA in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction engineering
  • Preference given to candidates holding an EIT – Engineering-in-Training or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • The successful candidate should be entry level up to 2 years of experience, preferably with a geotechnical consulting firm.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate in English.
  • Good organizational skills, positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Candidate should have an understanding and knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering
  • Experience in construction materials testing is desirable
