About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. We are seeking an experienced, team oriented Certified Medical Assistant for a full-time position. The right candidate will be responsible for supporting the prescribing Physicians and Nurse Practitioners, collecting vital signs, and recording patient histories on individuals prior to their appointment.

Other duties include:

  • Handles calls for prescription refills and prior authorizations
  • Performs medication injection administration
  • Monitors self-administration of medication
  • Maintains inventory of medications and medical supplies in the medication room
  • Ensures infection control and safety measures are followed
  • Carries out physician orders
  • Educates and instructs individuals served
  • Communicates clearly and works effectively/harmoniously as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Position Requirements

Academic / Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Graduated from an approved school for Medical Assistants
  • Must possess a valid National Certification for Medical Assistant (NCMA) to practice in the State of Texas
  • Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and HCMHDD policies
  • Must maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance
  • One (1) to two (2) years’ experience as a Certified Medical Assistant which includes psychiatric or Behavioral Health (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with consumers and Supervisor.
