Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC (DRM) is seeking a highly collaborative marketing and business development professional to join our team as Manager of Marketing and Business Development. Working closely with our attorneys and COO, you will develop and implement a brand and marketing strategy that differentiates the firm from its competition, with an emphasis on digital marketing, content distribution, SEO and social media. You will oversee our marketing department. The successful candidate will be a confident, energetic self-starter with a high level of engagement and a collaborative style of leadership. The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects is essential. An individual with a track record of success with digital marketing is highly desirable.

Overview: Develop and implement a brand and marketing strategy in collaboration with attorneys and other firm management that differentiates the firm from its competition, with an emphasis on digital marketing, content distribution and social media. Oversee and manage the firm’s marketing department. Lead the execution of the firm’s business development strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Planning Implementation: Implement the marketing and business development components of the firm’s strategic plan in conjunction with firm management. Support and facilitate development and implementation of business development and marketing plans, including opportunities for collaboration between practice groups and cross selling to existing clients.

Digital Marketing Strategy: Develop, in conjunction with firm management, the firm’s digital marketing strategy. Ensure that firm’s website is up to date, ranks highly in SEO (attorney “findability”), and features relevant and compelling content. Assist attorneys in developing content for website and social media distribution. Develop and maintain (or work with outside agencies to develop) digital advertising.

Coaching/Training Attorneys: Coordinate training in business development and client service best practices for attorneys. Track progress and encourage tailored business development opportunities for individual attorneys and practice groups. Focus on training and motivating attorneys in developing digital content.

Media/Public Relations: Prepare and manage public relations activities and communications for the firm, including press releases, new attorney announcements and other firm materials and communications.

Client Proposals: Provide oversight to marketing personnel in preparation of client proposals.

Advertising and Promotional Materials: Design and maintain (or provide oversite if delegated or outsourced) all print and digital marketing and business development for the firms and its attorneys including attorney bios, practice descriptions, brochures and advertising.

Firm Memberships and Attorney Speaking Engagements: Evaluate firm membership and attorney speaking engagement opportunities and work to take advantage of memberships (both geographic and industry focused) and engagements to enhance the firm’s profile and develop new business.

Event Planning: Oversight of client and business development related functions and events.

Surveys and Assessment: Participate in the design of client satisfaction surveys and market research.

Departmental Oversight: Oversee the marketing department.

Budgets: Develop the annual marketing and business development budget in collaboration with firm management and practice group chairs. Manage expenditures to budget in collaboration with firm management and practice group chairs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a concentration in marketing, and/or communications.

Experience: At least five years as a manager of marketing or business development in a professional services environment. Experience in digital marketing, social media, and writing digital content. Proven record of strong leadership and collaboration skills, successful development and administration of a marketing program.

Direct Supervision:

Position reports to the Chief Operating Officer, in collaboration with the Managing Partner and the Deputy Managing Partner.
