About the Organization  


  • ATC is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Engineering Technician (Level II) to perform special inspections and conduct field and/or laboratory testing of construction materials for the purpose of verifying conformance to project documents and code requirements.
  • Your job duties will include field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of soils, deep and shallow foundations, reinforced concrete, post tensioned concrete, structural masonry, fireproofing and asphalt placement.
  • Duties will require daily communication with the project team, senior technicians and staff professionals.
  • Candidates need to possess good communication skills – oral and written, have the aptitude to provide detailed documentation of findings, the capacity to complete calculations and analyze results, and the ability to use a computer and basic software to complete and submit test reports.
  • The Sr. Engineering Technician position requires experience and proficiency in multiple areas of field and laboratory testing.
  • You must have the ability to take the lead on large scale projects and provide direction to engineering technicians.
  • You will be expected to assist in training entry level technicians and maintaining equipment and calibrations.
  • You will be expected to maintain certifications and pursue any of the ICC certifications listed below that you do not possess.
  • ATC will pay for certifications and will provide training.
  • You will be working on active construction sites.
  • This position requires long term standing and repetitive motions.
  • You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit.
  • You must have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus.
  • Driving - you may be required to drive to distant project sites primarily within Georgia, but occasionally throughout the Southeast.
  • Lifting – You will regularly lift/move/shake up to 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds [such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples].
Position Requirements


  • A valid driver's license
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • BSCE graduates with EIT's will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to interpret geotech reports and engineering and construction plans.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Grade 1 and Radiation Safety
  • ICC Certification (Must have, at minimum, two of the following) ICC Soils, ICC Reinforced Concrete, ICC Pre-stressed Concrete, ICC Structural Masonry, ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting
