MADEN TECHNOLOGIES seeks a full-time corporate Controller to join our dynamic team! Based in Arlington, Virginia, we are an established, growing company primarily focused on science, technology, environmental, construction, and healthcare support primarily to the Federal Government. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Corporate Accounting Department and the overall accounting/finance functions, to include accounting management, analysis, reporting, controls, payroll administration, cash management, and healthcare/Federal Government regulatory compliance. YOU MUST HAVE: CPA certification; experience with Federal Government contracting environment; and knowledge of Deltek GCS Premier and/or Costpoint.

Please note that this position does not offer the option for telework/telecommuting. You will be working in our Arlington, Virginia corporate office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of staff accountants
  • Develop and implement accounting policies consistent with operating and strategic plans and within leadership guidance and direction
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting across Company, including segmented accounting operations
  • Review, analyze, and interpret financial reports and data in terms of cost, adherence to operating budgets and policy, financial trends, and increased profit opportunities
  • Negotiate lines of credit
  • Develop fringe and bid rate structures
  • Develop, review, and analyze financial due diligence of acquisitions
  • Monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity; analyze data; ensure compliance with applicable standards (GAAP, DCAA, CAS auditing), rules, regulations and systems of internal control; interpret and evaluate results, prepare documentation; create financial reports and/or presentations
  • Oversee DCAA and CAS audits and incurred cost submissions, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance
  • Manage accounts receivable activities to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components, including billings, cash receipts application, etc.; funding service management which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management
  • Assures corporate income tax compliance for accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns
  • Prepare and submit incurred cost submission
  • Prepare formal cost proposals for submission to Government and commercial agencies
  • Assist independent and Government auditors with annual financial and procedural audits
  • Ensure the company's 401(k) compliance
  • Work with the Human Resources department on fringe benefit matters
  • Report results to leadership to ensure timely and effective decision-making
  • Ensure all accounting records, policies, and practices are compliant with healthcare industry/Federal, state and local government laws and regulations as well as various regulatory agencies
  • Establish effective internal controls to protect Company assets and receipts and ensure compliance to above-stated policies and practices
  • Give input to leadership in the design, development, and implementation of operating and strategic business plans
  • Assure the selection, appraisal, and development of accounting personnel consistent with Company values
  • Assume a lead role in functional integration and process improvement initiatives
  • Offer direction to team on complex finance issues
  • Develop and implement finance initiatives
  • Apply ingenuity and creativity to problem solving in complex and unique environments

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Bachelor Degree in accounting or related field; MBA preferred
  • CPA certification required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, at least half of which must be in a government contracting environment, with at least three years of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Deltek GCS Premier/Costpoint and MS Excel is required
  • Knowledge of GAAP, DCAA, and CAS standards
  • Experienced in Federal Procurement Regulations, i.e., Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), DCAA and CAS policies
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial/accounting principles, practices and standards as applied to government contracting environment; e.g., FAR, DCAA, SCA, etc., and reporting requirements for Federal contracts, including GSA Schedules
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge
  • Contract negotiation and administration
  • Extensive expertise and skills in the control and reporting of the financial operations function
  • EVMS certified a plus
  • Experience and knowledge in the healthcare industry a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and good record-keeping
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
  • Strong background in budget preparation and cash management
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry a plus
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot accounting issues
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment and solicit and give constructive feedback
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, goals/objectives, and new technologies, and meet deadlines
