Interactive Government Holdings (IGH) is seeking qualified, trained and capable individual to serve as an Employment Coach within the Florida National Guard's Employment Support Program. The Employment Coach will provide employment support to Soldiers, Airmen and their families within the Florida, using broad-based knowledge, experience and skills in the areas of military personnel and human resource matters, especially as they relate to balancing civilian employment with military service in the Florida National Guard. The Employment Coach will represent the interest of Florida National Guard, the Adjutant General's office, Guardsmen, Dependents and Employers by marching Employer hiring needs with skills, knowledge and training invested in Florida National Guardsmen.

Mission

The purpose of the Florida National Guard Employment Support Program is to provide employment opportunities and career options for members of the reserve components, while working with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) (see http://www.esgr.mil/) Program Support Specialist. The objective of this requirement is to provide Employment Coaches throughout the state of Florida, and to provide technical support to managers, supervisors, reserve component members and family members as to the benefits and entitlements available through the Employment Support Program and to ensure standardization and continuity of service.

 
Position Requirements

Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive):

The Employment Coach, in the furtherance of the Florida National Guard’s interests of developing a supportive employment environment, shall perform the following tasks, which include but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the members of the Florida National Guard and other Reserve Components, and their Dependents in the area of employment. Provide coaching, counseling, training and assisting with job searches, interview skills and resume preparation.
  • Act as the POC for planning activities and referrals for employment. Provide employment opportunities and career options to members of the Florida National Guard and other Reserve Components by coordinating the availability of local, state and federal employment resources, and actively referring service members.
  • Provide training, instruction, and assistance to National Guard and Reserve Component members and their families on topics including job search strategies, resume writing and interviewing techniques.
  • Gather and analyze employment data and issues. Serve as a focal point for employment support issues to include Civilian Employment Information (CEI) interpretation, analysis and best practices for achieving registration standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of a marketing plan for taking the Employment Support Program to the Florida National Guard community.
  • Develop, plan and conduct training regarding Employer Outreach programs, initiatives and plans for units of the Florida National Guard and other Reserve Components including individual Airmen and Soldiers, their Dependents, and employers. Assist with the establishment and maintenance of liaison with employers of Florida National Guard and other Reserve Component members.
  • Keep the Adjutant General and staff apprised of activities and advise and assist the State J1/J5/J9 concerning support and assistance for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) programs. Provide support to the State ESGR committee. Foster and manage a teamwork collaboration effort with ESGR representatives.
  • Conduct briefings at units of the Florida National Guard and other Reserve Components for service members advising them of services provided including resume writing and interviewing skills, summarize the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), and promote ESGR’s Employer award nominations.
  • Create reports to summarize briefings, trainings, events, activities, tasking and email campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in one of the following: Human Resources, Psychology, Business Management, Business Administration or Social Science.
  • Minimum experience: Prior case management experience or experience with employment services programs, personnel management or human resource experience; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Knowledge of RC logistics and maintenance programs, operations, automation systems, regulations, policies, SOPs and RC deployment cycles.
  • Military experience is desired but not required: A broad knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of military personnel, and human resources, especially as they relate to balancing civilian life with military service. Additionally, the contract employee must demonstrate a working knowledge of all Employer Support Program activities and services.
  • Proficiency in using various DoD approved software to include preparing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) documents and communicating via E-mail using Outlook.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interacting with Reserve Component members, employers, volunteers, and other contractor personnel.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills shall be demonstrated
  • Experience in making oral presentations to various size groups
  • Shall have the ability to gather information, make recommendations for program improvement, synthesize information, and provide communication (orally and written).
  • Shall have a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass government background investigation

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Strong working knowledge of all ESGR programs, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), related Department of Defense (DoD) directives and instructions and state laws governing the resolution of employer issues and concerns.
  • Experience in public speaking. Strong organizational management, supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using various DoD approved software to include preparing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) documents and communicating via E-mail using Outlook.

This position requires some weekend work with time off during the week in order to maintain 40 hours per week.
