TITLE: Maintenance Clerk DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

STATUS: PT/FT, Clerk, Union, Hourly REPORTS TO: Assistant Store Manager

JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost's internal and external customers. To maintain a sanitized, clean and organized store appearance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced retail floor. Regular work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. floor scrubber), in high precarious places (i.e. ladder work), and in cold/hot climate conditions (i.e. outdoors). Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and machinery. Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.


1. Customer Service

  1. Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  2. Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.

2. Maintenance Department Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that store and outside areas are in clean, orderly conditions at all times.
  2. Vacuum store rugs daily.
  3. Frequently clean and restock restrooms throughout the day.
  4. Ensure daily or as needed sweeping and scrubbing of the retail floor, hallways and back stock floors.
  5. Remove store trash to proper outside receptacles.
  6. Assist with store recycling.
  7. Ensure break and workshop rooms are properly maintained and cleaned.
  8. Ensure that daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance tasks are performed to highest quality possible.
  9. Follow safety guidelines in regards to lifting, baler, pallet jack operation, etc.
  10. Attend department meetings as scheduled.

3. All Staff Duties

  1. Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
  2. Keep store orderly and clean.
  3. Maintain a positive attitude.
  4. Perform all other duties as assigned by assistant manager or manager on duty.
