What are we looking for in a Credentialing Specialist?

The Credentialing Specialist has the important role of ensuring that the Comprehensive Healthcare and each of our facilities are fully licensed and that all clinical staff is fully credentialed & paneled with insurance companies. The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for monitoring licenses, completing and submitting applications, assisting clinical staff with required paperwork, and ensuring all documents are submitted in a timely manner. This position requires frequent coordination with insurance companies, state agencies, other payers, and Comprehensive employees at all levels, so effective communication skills and phone etiquette are essential. This work will require the ability to prioritize multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, stay organized when projects are in various stages of completion, and anticipate when & what assistance will need to be offered to ensure timelines are met.

Credentialing Specialist duties may include:

  • completing, submitting, and monitoring applications for agency licenses
  • completing applications & the review process for internal privileging, including querying various databases for supporting documentation and preparing files for committee review
  • following insurance and other payor guidelines for submission of facility and clinical staff credentialing applications—using paper or electronic applications as required
  • creating resumes & completing paper applications for clinical staff as needed
  • maintaining files for staff credentialing and investigating delays or denials
  • developing positive relationships with payor credentialing departments
 
Position Requirements

Education / Experience: Associate degree in business administration, healthcare management, or related field and two years of related work experience.
