Description

George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for an IB Coordinator.

The International Baccalaureate Coordinator is a key institutional academic leader with primary responsibility for oversight and administration of George School’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The IB Coordinator collaborates closely with the Head of School, Associate Head of School, Director of Studies, Registrar, Director of Professional Development and Evaluation, academic department heads, and IB teachers to ensure that implementation of the IB Diploma Program is in alignment with IB standards and expectations, and also with the school’s academic mission and curricula, as well as its Quaker, international, service, and equity and inclusion commitments and initiatives. Key areas of responsibility include provision of vision, leadership, and administrative support and supervision of IB curriculum, pedagogy, and faculty; budgetary oversight of IB expenditures; support and guidance to students and their parents, ensuring that their experiences with the program are positive. In addition, the IB Coordinator will serve as an institutional spokesperson on IB-related matters. The IB Coordinator is a 65% faculty position reporting to the associate head of school, who oversees all academic and curricular matters.

 
Position Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, with preference for a Master’s degree in an academic field taught at George School or in education administration or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of successful professional experience with the IB DP is required.
  • The ability to teach an IB class at George School is highly desired.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in pedagogy and mind, brain, and education research.
  • Strong communication skills both in writing and oral presentation.
  • A high degree of organization, efficiency, and initiative.
  • Enjoyment of and respect for young people and the ability to answer That of God in even the most recalcitrant teenager.
  • A commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community and a style consistent with Quaker values.
  • The ability to lead by example in a community that expects collegiality and open communication.
  • Commitment to inclusion and demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse student and adult populations.
  • Ability to articulate and tactfully handle inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends are required.
  • Proficiency with both MAC and PC systems (specifically Word and Excel for Windows) and with database programs.
