POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION
The Manager of Network Engineering is responsible for the day-to-day management of technical staff around the implementation of information technology networks and security strategies; researching, design and implementation of technology solutions and recommendation of technical initiatives; specifically toward implementing, and maintaining internal IT networks, site-to-site connectivity and business processes.
This role receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to best use assigned resources to meet schedules and accomplish goals. This includes monitoring of staff performance and maintaining staff by: recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; while preparing and coordinating staff to ensure round-the-clock availability and capability.
Responsibilities include communicating job expectations then planning, monitoring, and appraising job results while coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. This key player must be able to communicate technical problems, and solutions, to a diverse audience composed of highly skilled technical workers and to non-technical persons.
An individual in this role may frequently interact with executives, senior level management, subordinates, customers, and/or functional peer group managers and must collaborate toward the establishment and adherence to a set of standards. Must also advise these individuals of systems capacity and performance issues, critical security issues, and recommend risk-reducing solutions. Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Defines, delivers and supports strategic plans for implementing technology solutions in accordance with business goals and objectives.
Manages technology research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices and projects. Recommends new initiatives and develops solutions to meet business requirements.
Oversees change management and process management.
Recruits, selects, orients, and trains employees.
Plans and manages the time, task and projects for a diverse team of technology experts.
Oversees projects relating to system development and/or equipment which falls under the responsibility of the IT department.
Ensures the maximum amount of accurate issue resolutions in minimum amount of time.
Ensures proper function of company's information processing systems then recommends and implements upgrades and capacity as required.
Maintains working relationships with vendors and third party providers, ensuring contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis.
Selects and/or recommends products and services to the benefit of the company and its customers.
Recommends appropriate maintenance strategies to ensure uninterrupted systems usage and proper back-up and recovery and security measures.
Maintains current knowledge with technology updates to ensure technology opportunities are taken advantage of. Must maintain a good working knowledge of current industry trends and best practices.
Maintains a high level of technical competence and ability to perform work within the domains of IT Systems, and Networking.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
BA or BS or prior equivalent work experience usually obtained with 7-8 years of related experience
10+ years of systems administration and management
A minimum of 5 years' management and supervisory experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
Close visual work on a computer terminal.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required to operate computer keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments, and for performing cable terminations and testing.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and worked on a raised platform.
WORK CONDITIONS
Standard office and Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
Must be available for 24x7 support of customers and RagingWire.
Must be reachable via telephone, text, and email on a 24x7 basis.
Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
25% travel or as required for training, conferences, vendor and manufacturer visitations, quality control, design and build collaboration, and work-assistance at other RagingWire locations. Travel requirements may vary based on the frequency and intensity of remote site operations. Travel flexibility is required.
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
