This full-time paid internship opportunity is for the summer of 2019. What are the objectives/goals of the position? Developing assay using next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies protocols and analyzing animal/human samples, such as airway and gut microbiota in order to understand microbiome changes during disease progression and from drug treatment intervention. What are the primary duties of this position? Conducting experiments in the wet lab including nucleic acid extractions, NGS library preparations, NGS operations and data analysis. Participate in the research and development discussions and presenting research findings. What technical skills are required? The position will require a good understanding of basic molecular biology and microbiology. Lab experience required in nucleic acid extractions and PCR. Experience with NGS or bioinformatics is a plus.   Position Requirements To participate in the AstraZeneca Intern Program, Students must meet the following eligibility criteria: • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. • Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following AstraZeneca assignment • Minimum grade point average of 3.0 preferred • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Location South San Francisco, CA   This position is currently not accepting applications.
