We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of The United States, the largest volunteer organization in the world devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.   Category Social Work   Description Position Summary: Social Worker's primary responsibilities include providing clinical case management services and supports to foster care families, advocacy for children in treatment foster care, functioning as a liaison between families and referring agencies and active participation in the self-managed team. Position Duties & Responsibilities: In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Social Worker I shall do the following: Quality Support Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments of children placed in Treatment Foster Care to identify client strengths and needs using appropriate assessment tools and clinical judgment. Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive case plans and clinical interventions to address critical needs impacting the functioning of children and adolescents in Treatment Foster Care Placements. Conduct minimum of two monthly face-to-face monitoring sessions with children and families on the assigned caseload. Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 emergency response, crisis intervention, and support for Treatment Foster Parents and children. Maintain a caseload of 6-10 children in Treatment Foster Care placements. Effectively advocate to ensure the safety, permanence and well being of children placed within the program. This includes monitoring the basic care of the child, regular safety checks of the child's living environment, and ongoing monitoring of the Treatment Foster Home. Provide ongoing clinical case management for up to 10 foster care families that results in optimal functioning and satisfaction. This includes monitoring for changes in family composition, routines, and resources. Provide training and information to Treatment Foster Care Families and Children to increase self efficacy and self-awareness. Conduct quarterly updates of all service plans in accordance with COMAR and agency policies. Quality Team Members Take a lead role in the development and implementation of service plans as well as the development of an effective support team. Supervise, coach and support foster care families in meeting all regulatory requirements as well as meeting the basic and specialized care needs of children in placement. Function as an effective liaison between treatment foster care families, referring agencies, and other stakeholders (i.e. CASA, attorneys, Citizens Review Boards, etc.) Assist in the recruiting, vetting, training, certification and monitoring of Treatment Foster Homes in accordance with COMAR and DHR/SSA guidelines. The Social Worker I may supervise undergraduate students and may assist graduate students and volunteers during the course of an internship. Financial Excellence Ensure applicable funding and regulatory agencies requirements (e.g. foster care provider training, documentation, certification and recertification) are met in an accurate, complete and timely manner. Maintain accurate and complete records of all required documentation. Ensure that all policies regarding the placement of children are adhered to and that any changes in the placement of a child (intake, discharge, respite, or move within the program) are communicated effectively and timely. Provide training, support and guidance to Foster Parents to increase capacities, improve confidence and competence, and reduce the likelihood of disruption for children in care. Submit all expense reports and mileage reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner. Assist in the development of community resources to identify funding sources for special needs within the client population.
