Description

Position Summary:

The BCBA works with the Director of Clinical Services and Psych Support Specialists/RBT's to provide a range of applied behavior analytic assessment and development of support plans for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. The BCBA is responsible for scheduling, communicating and continually evaluating the effectiveness of functional assessment, behavioral evaluations and support plans for individuals supported or seeking BSS at The Arc NCR

Position Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Behavior Analyst shall do the following:

Quality Support

  • Analyze available data to help determine where, when, and why challenging behaviors occur.
  • Directly observe the individual served in all relevant settings. Analyze the data to determine the function of the challenging behavior.
  • Completion of on-site observation, environmental and medical assessment, record reviews and interviews.
  • Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviors.
  • Integrate appropriate setting event, antecedent, teaching, and consequences strategies to reduce target behavior and increase alternative replacement behaviors.
  • Ensure the support plan addresses the function of the target behavior.
  • Monitor the individual's behavior data and provide descriptive progress notes on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct treatment fidelity assessments to ensure proper implementation of the support plan.
  • Review behavior data, meet and discuss with the appropriate staff member any discrepancies noted on the behavior data (e.g. lack of documentation, inappropriate restrictions situations in which the current behavior program or treatment approach were not followed appropriately also, check each report to ensure that time, date, signatures, are correct).
  • Conduct data and trend analysis detailing progress on target behaviors.
  • Attend Human Rights Committee meetings, annual IP meetings, and team meetings.
  • Completion of Behavioral Assessment based on the principles of person-centered planning, comprehensive Functional Behavioral Assessment, including development of specific hypotheses for challenging behavior.
  • Development and updates of written reports including Behavior Assessment, Tiered Support Plans and behavioral consultations progress notes.
  • Ongoing consultation, monitoring, education and assessment for Support Plans.

Quality Team Members

  • Interview Staff and/or family members who know the individual served well before development of the plan to get background and preliminary information.
  • Train staff and/or family members directly (i.e., in person, with opportunities for questions, discussion, etc. ) on the implementation of the behavior support plan.
  • Assess and provides suggestions for staff training in the areas of psychological and behavioral supports.
  • Participates in orientation of new team members

Financial Excellence

  • Provides feedback to agency leaders, case managers and service coordinators.
  • Support BSS in meeting it's financial goals and billable hours.
