This full-time paid internship opportunity is for the summer of 2019. What are the objectives/goals of the position? This intern will have opportunity to participate in developing and evaluating platforms for cancer vaccine. This intern will learn how to generate, evaluate and optimize constructs in tissue culture and animal models What are the primary duties of this position? This intern will work with a group of scientists and perform following tasks with supervision Use DNA sequence analysis to design plasmid and primer for cloning/sequencing Conduct molecular cloning and sequence analysis Culture primary and transformed cell lines Assess gene expression by Western blot, ELISA/MSD or flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy analysis Summarize experiment data, discuss findings with supervisor, and present data and data interpretation at group meetings Help maintain lab instruments and place orders Expect to present research at site/department meetings at end of internship What technical skills are required? Strong background in molecular biology/biochemistry, knowledge of virology is a plus Familiar with DNA sequence analysis Considerable experience with DNA/RNA manipulation and cell culture Hands-on experience with flow cytometry and data analysis Hands-on experience with fluorescence microscopy and data analysis Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong skills in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint |
