Location: South San Francisco, CA Main Duties and Responsibilities We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a graduate (M.S, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences for an internship during 2019 in the DMPK department supporting clinical and pre-clinical PK/PD and non-clinical toxicology studies. Potential projects: Targeted and untargeted metabolomics/lipidomics/proteomics ADME of small molecules and biologics Applications of Ion Mobility Spectroscopy to Mass Spectrometry The intern will have the opportunity to learn and utilize state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments within our group with the goal to discover and validate clinically-relevant biomarkers and/or understand ADME properties of small molecule drugs and biotherapeutics. The intern is expected to perform specific assays with minor supervision following hands-on training; however, assay design and preparation for most assays will be conducted with supervision. Data analysis and interpretation will be conducted with supervision. At the end of the internship the intern is expected to give an oral presentation about their research. Essential Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences Strong background in analytical biochemistry/chemistry with emphasis on LC-MS Expertise in metabolomics, lipidomics or proteomics Hands-on experience with chromatographic separation of various analytes by LC and characterization and quantification by MS or MS/MS Proficiency with mass spectrometry software as well as spreadsheet, word processing, and graphical computer programs Good organizational, documentation and technical writing skills Good command of English (written and oral) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Desirable Requirements Familiarity with basic pharmacokinetic data analyses Familiarity with metabolite identification and profiling studies |
