Job Summary:

New Teacher Center works to disrupt the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students, from preschool through high school, by accelerating educator effectiveness. We’re hiring a highly-motivated self-starter with strong writing skills and project management experience for our Content & Social Community Manager position. This individual will drive understanding and engagement to the organization’s professional learning opportunities through the development of creative, dynamic materials and dissemination tactics.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Writing is your passion. You love the written word and are well-adept at balancing plain-language with detailed descriptions. You are responsible for developing creative, dynamic communications and marketing materials that convey the impact of New Teacher Center’s professional learning opportunities. Content may include:

    • E-mails, blog posts, presentations, website copy, and other print and digital content

    • Internal and external newsletters

    • Conference session and other speaking proposals

    • Social media campaigns and posts, as needed

    • Editorial calendars

  • The audience and user experience are your guiding star. You think creatively about which platforms best communicate your message and narrative and cater the content to user experience.

  • You are into details. You will work directly with New Teacher Center’s program and district leads to maintain all updates to our programming, in-field impact, and collateral. These updates will guide our storyline and materials development, and must be tracked

  • Seriously into details. In addition to serving as a strong writer and copy editor, you will coordinate internal and external teams to ensure writing projects are well-managed and efficiently executed, including managing graphic and web design vendors;

  • You enjoy engaging with others. In this role, you will manage New Teacher Center’s social media platforms. You think of unique ways to position our organizational messages, while actively engaging with influencers in the field.

  • You thrive in a collaborative environment. You will serve as an integral member of the Marketing & External Affairs team and report directly to the Director of Communications;

  • You don’t like getting too comfortable. You contribute to cultivating a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and ongoing evaluation and improvement. You stay well-informed and versed on trends, rapidly changing technology and best practices in the K-12 market and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization;

  • You pride yourself on being a great partner. You think collaboratively across both marketing and program, setting the standard for effective cross-collaboration that looks like accountability and ownership while simultaneously working towards a shared goal.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

The ideal Content & Social Community Manager will have:

  • 5+ years of writing, communications, or public relations experience. Experience in the education sector is a plus;

  • Experience in project management;

  • Demonstrated experience leading content development across communications channels, including newsletters, email marketing, blogs, presentations (including PowerPoint and Google Slides), web, and print copy;

  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects at once;

  • Exceptional writing skills that demonstrate an ability to balance public relations with organizational expertise;

  • Drive to complete projects in a thorough, professional manner, while working alongside a fun, energetic team;

  • Experience in education writing is preferred;

  • Prior communications, marketing, or PR agency experience is a plus.

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

  • Limited physical effort required

  • Hearing, repetitive hand motions, sitting, talking, typing

  • Some travel as needed, typically 10-15%
