Automation Network Engineer

Summary:

The Network Engineer plays a crucial role in achieving our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by providing technical expertise that will aid in developing, maintaining, and delivering technical solutions to customers and suppliers. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing and provide support for various technologies including Cisco Routing and Cisco Switching Solutions. This position must build and maintain relationships with automation customers, Rockwell Automation and other suppliers in collaboration with the Automation Product Managers, Account Managers, and fellow Automation Specialists. On a day-to-day basis this position will work closely with customers, sales and automation team members to assess customer's plant floor networks, provide recommendations for network optimization, and perform basic plant floor network designs to enable solutions leveraging Industrial Internet of Things technologies.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Develop, design, and troubleshoot industrial network infrastructure solutions for customers across various industries.
  • Participate in the development of client-facing Statements of Work, Bill of Materials and estimates for Professional Services.
  • Implement test plans, migration plans, and delivery plans for network services.
  • Install and configure Cisco Routing, Cisco Switching, Cisco Wireless and related applications.
  • Provide systems administration and troubleshooting for client installations.
  • Prepare project documentation including network diagrams, configurations, and support procedures.
  • Serve as technical liaison to Rockwell and Panduit.
  • Support and facilitate the Connected Enterprise/IIoT strategy.
  • Support the development and successful implementation of the distributor business plan for Networks, Security and Information Solutions.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with suppliers.

Job Requirements/Specifications: Minimum of 5 years demonstrated network engineering experience

  • CCNA Routing/Switching required, CCNP preferred
  • 3-5+ years experience with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting of industrial Cisco Networks, including Routing, Switching, and Wireless
  • Engineering experience with mid-sized to enterprise-sized customers is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable
  • Aptitude to adopt new technologies
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley processes and products strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel, some overnight, as needed for training, meetings, and customer engagements
