Description

Holland Bloorview Foundation is looking for an organized and detail-oriented Officer, Public Engagement to support brand marketing and fundraising activities for the Foundation. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Public Engagement, the Officer is responsible for leading the execution of the Capes for Kids fundraising strategy, mass market advertising and brand campaigns and supporting Holland Bloorview's celebrity and influencer engagement portfolio. The Officer is part of the Hospital/Foundation Communications and Public Engagement team.

About our Foundation

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is the largest foundation in Canada dedicated to supporting childhood disability. Established in 1996 to inspire community interest and raise funds in support of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, our focus is to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities. Located within the Hospital in Toronto, the Foundation has a staff of 24 full time professionals.

Thanks to generous donors, our Foundation raises over $10 million dollars annually for Holland Bloorview and supports the areas of research, quality of life programming, capacity building and client and family-centred care. It's an exciting time at the Holland Bloorview Foundation as our team has embarked on our next chapter with fresh strategies to inspire community interest and raise funds to help Holland Bloorview create a world of possibilities for kids with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Capes for Kids

  • Support the development and lead the execution of the fundraising strategy for Capes for Kids while providing fundraising expertise and guidance to the team;
  • Responsible for developing and executing compelling recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies for Capes for Kids that drive revenue growth and donor and fundraiser loyalty;
  • Responsible for outreach to new communities and groups to drive increased registrations for Capes for Kids;
  • Build meaningful and effective relationships with select event participants, team captains, donors, and volunteers, providing excellent customer service, coaching and stewardship while strategically identifying ways to maximize fundraising results;
  • Develop call plans and scripting throughout event campaigns, and lead staff team in execution, providing oversight, guidance and coaching;
  • Create compelling content for communications (website, email, phone calls, etc…) for Capes for Kids that encourages registrations and encourages fundraising;
  • Develop ongoing outbound emails to support Capes for Kids recruitment and fundraising - including managing unsubscribes, do not contact and bounce backs;
  • Project manage all Capes for Kids communication vehicles, including website, marketing collateral, advertising creative, promotional materials etc…;
  • Act as subject matter expert on peer-to-peer fundraising platforms;
  • Establish goals, tactics, and metrics for P2P fundraising and communications, and regularly monitor and report results to key stakeholders;
  • Collaborate with other fundraising teams to identify opportunities for donor migration;
  • Ensure participant, donor and volunteer activities are recorded in the relationship database.

Mass Advertising

  • Maintain production schedule, including routing materials for review and approval and sourcing production quotes;
  • Assist in creation and coordinating the advertising schedule, creative development and execution of the TV, print, radio and digital advertising for our annual public campaign;
  • Manage advertising spec documents from in-kind and bonsued advertising partners, ensuring creative is delivered on time and meeting required specs
  • Coordinate meetings, and if required prepare agenda, attend meetings, take and distribute notes
  • Manage media release forms to ensure proper permissions are obtained and expiration dates on photo consents are honoured;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers as required to communicate project specifications, updates and share materials

Other

  • Assist in the annual departmental budget planning process;
  • Process invoices including coding, tracking approvals and obtaining quotes ;
  • Assist with in-house events and meetings, including logistics;
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of pitches to new prospective partners;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, or a related field and 2-3 years of fundraising experience;
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of best practices in the area of peer-to-peer fundraising;
  • Experience with relational databases and online fundraising platforms;
  • Strong project management experience;
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and experience working with a CRM;
  • Demonstrated strong client/customer service orientation with the ability to understand and respond to various expectations from diverse stakeholders;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various timelines and handle competing, changing priorities;
  • Excellent phone etiquette, customer service skills, communication, and business writing skills;
  • Ability to work in teams or independently;
  • Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events;
  • High energy, enthusiastic and passionate about events and fundraising;
  • Experience with email deployment platforms and Google analytics would be an asset;
  • Experience in a non-profit or multi-level organization an asset.
