SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervised by the Chief of Police, Office Manager and Police Officers on duty.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

SHIFT: 2:30PM-10:30PM every other Saturday-Sunday

POSITION SUMMARY: The Part-time Police Dispatcher is responsible for receiving calls placed to the department and dispatching campus police / security officers as needed. In addition, this individual is responsible for the maintenance of logs, other necessary paperwork and other duties as assigned by the Director/ Chief of Police or Office Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receive incoming calls from students, staff, faculty and the general public.

  2. Monitor alarms received at Campus Safety and dispatch EMS, Police or Fire.

  3. Complete pertinent data on incident memo for each call.

  4. Obtain geographical location, caller information and dispatch police officer via 2-way radio as needed.

  5. Complete shift logs and other reports as needed.

  6. Enter required data including parking ticket charge.

  7. Assists in the issuance of new and replacement ID cards for student, faculty and staff.

  8. Assist in trouble shooting card access issues and reset card access for locations throughout campus.

  9. Review the special events book and verify card access is set accordingly if required.

  10. Issue temporary parking passes for visitors.

  11. Assist in working special events.

  12. Work extended shifts when required.

  13. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Must have knowledge of the geographical locations on campus and be able to communicate these locations to the appropriate individuals. Previous use of a 2-way police radio is preferred but not necessary. The position demands excellent organizational skills as well as superior interpersonal skills (verbal and written), and an ability to work closely with all constituencies of the College and Seminary including students, staff and faculty, in addition to the general public. Computer literacy as well as experience with Microsoft Office, particularly database applications, word processing and spreadsheets is essential. Must maintain a valid or current PA operator's license or operator's license in the state which residing. Must submit to a criminal background check. Physical requirements include ability to sit at desk and answer telephones, with very occasional stretching to reach logbooks in overhead shelves. Phone answering does not prevent standing, stretching, or walking. Must be able to work all shifts (week day and weekend) and extended shifts as deemed necessary to provide coverage for all shifts and special events.
