Schedule Varied schedule Monday-Sunday between the hours of 9:00 am-8:00 pm. Schedule is subject to vary based on departmental needs.  
Pay Rate $13.00/hr.  
Description

SUMMARY
Supervisor will perform a variety of duties in learning how to direct and supervise aquatic programs such as the South Bend Swim Club, Learn to Swim, Potawatomi Pool, Kennedy Water Playground, the East Race Waterway (white water rafting course), and assist in special events.

Lifeguards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Be responsible for Internal Audits at all Aquatic Facilities and assists with External Audits.
• Assist in the selection, training, and scheduling of Substitute Lifeguards.
• Develop, coordinate, and participate in Aquatic programs and activities.
• Supervise Aquatic employees at all facilities.
• Inventory and purchase program materials and supplies.
• Assist in Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor classes.
• Assist in evaluating staffing requirements and makes recommendations for staffing needs.
• Assist in handling funds for Learn to Swim, Aqua Aerobics, Family Swim, and related classes.
• Assist in marketing and promoting aquatics through newsletters, school mailings, newspaper, radio, and television.
• Be responsible for weekly quizzes for Lifeguards.
• Supervise in-service Lifeguard Training.
• Assist in Certified Pool Operator duties.

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS
• Prefer Junior or Senior level in college.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Knowledge of up-to-date principles and practices of aquatic planning and programming; Knowledge of basic business management and financial accounting methods;
• Ability to deal effectively with the public, either through individuals or agencies;
• Ability to effectively supervise and coordinate the activities of a variety of recreation workers;
• Ability to administrate, and coordinate programs, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
• Certifications for Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and First Aid/ CPR/ AED for the Community and Professional Rescuer Instructor are recommended.
• Valid Driver’s License.

EQUIPMENT
Truck, trailers, non-slip shoes.

The employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, run, or crawl. The employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. At times the heat and noise level can be extreme.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office and/or Pool environment. Employee will work in various weather conditions.
