Pay Rate $43,000-$53,000/yr.  
Description

SUMMARY
The Clean & Safe: Superintendent III will supervise the safety, security, ADA compliance and planning for VPA facilities.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Directs Teamster staff, VPA Ambassadors, Salary Staff, and part time employees as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Responsible to ensure that all VPA equipment, facilities, and infrastructure used by the public and staff is in safe condition; including playground equipment, facilities, Morris Performing Arts, Century Center, Parking Garages, Downtown Plaza, and all associated properties.
• Performs or supervises scheduled safety inspections and keeps all necessary records.
• Responsible for continued development and adherence to the VPA Safety Program.
• Solicits feedback from all levels of staff to continue to develop and improve policy for the agency.
• Interfaces with Safety & Risk and fills out paperwork on injured employees and public.
• Schedules and conducts safety meetings and training.
• Oversees and maintains all OSHA related compliance.
• Oversees all drug testing and DOT physicals.
• Performs/schedules fire system, fire suppression, and fire extinguisher related inspections and testing.
• Investigates and documents all safety related issues, such as acts of vandalism or accidents.
• Maintains all Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Oversees all aspects of building security systems including alarms, cameras, and other methods.
• Responds to alarm incidents as a key holder and VPA representative.
• Oversees and measures the department's ADA Compliance levels within the agencies physical spaces as well as provides input and planning on its improvements.
• Keeps records of completed daily work.
• Acts as VPA's MS4 coordinator.
• Issues reports as directed.
• Works storm and special events as directed.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed or as delegated.
• Available for on call status 24/7, on a rotating schedule.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule;
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions;
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely;
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions;
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and public.
• Ability to work nights and weekends.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain Playground Safety Inspector Certification within one year from the date of hire.

EQUIPMENT
Pickup truck, portable and base radio, computer, photocopier, fax machine, telephone, calculator, digital camera, and various other tools and equipment necessary to perform job duties.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include; close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except when operating power equipment.
