Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for applying continuous improvement, waste elimination and lean manufacturing methodologies throughout the organization/plants and acts as a lean champion, driving Lean-Enterprise culture throughout the organization. Initiates, reviews and drives Continuous Improvement (CI) strategies, processes, and projects using Lean principles in both manufacturing and transactional environments to improve the financial performance of the business. Identify, assess and execute improvement actions aligned to Corporate Vision/Mission and increase value-added content of processes across the enterprise. Provide timely recommendations and status updates to leadership with proven ability to work in a dynamic, matrixed, cross-functional organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with functional and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gathering data, analyzing and developing improvements and innovations, using statistical analyses and waste elimination techniques
  • Diagnoses and evaluates performance (cost, quality, delivery, safety) challenges
  • Implements Lean transformation within the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering and support organizations
  • Leads others in developing and implementing transformational projects that improve performance and profitability
  • Organizes, facilitates, documents and reports rapid improvement events
  • Creates and drives cultural shift through engaging and empowering people
  • Works with business leadership to develop key performance measurements and reporting
  • Provides intensive training for production teams and culture change within the organization
  • Provides knowledge transfer, training and coaching on lean concepts and techniques
  • Teaches, demonstrates and coordinates Lean implementation and activities on the shop floor such as Kanban, Material Conveyance, Production flow, Super Market design and deployment, Value Stream Mapping, Takt time analysis, Problem-Solving, Standardized work, Set-up reduction, 5S, Visual Workplace, and Error-Proofing, 5S, TPM, Visual Factory, Kaizen, Scheduling, etc.
  • Ensures consistency of Lean methods and application of approach and techniques
  • Assists plant value stream teams in sustaining gains achieved in Lean efforts
  • Supports management team in identifying and implementing best practices
  • Primary contact for overall Lean improvement plan development and implementation at assigned site
  • Leads Kaizen events as and where needed
  • Sets Lean reporting (projects and financials) system, and reports regularly to line and functional management
  • Manages follow-up of multiple projects in different production sites
  • Exchanges experiences with Lean organizations in other areas
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field from accredited school required

WORK EXPERIENCE:

10 years of experience minimum with minimum of 5 years of experience in lean transformation; extensive experience in implementing improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and other recognized process improvement methodologies such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kitting, Pull Systems, Mistake Proofing, Kanban); demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate improvement workshops that include key stakeholders; demonstrated skills in managing significant business improvement activities to successful and timely completion and resulting in tangible and measurable program benefits; change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and personnel at all levels
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Must be able to deal with rapid pace of change while balancing and adjusting priorities
  • Competent using Visio, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
